But Why Goat Milk?
Sep 10, 2021Goat milk soap is exactly what it sounds like — soap made from goat’s milk.
But why goat milk?
Because of all of the buzz of finding the latest and greatest natural ingredient for skin care (think exotic algae from the coral reefs, or the oil of lava found deep beneath the ocean floor, or flower petals from the highest peak in Africa), the most natural and basic and healthy and proven ingredient that has been used for skin-care for thousands of years is goat milk.
But why goat milk?
From the farm to the fridge to the vanity, there are more uses for goat milk than building strong, healthy bones or enjoying a cold glass with some cookies. It is finally getting the recognition it deserves as an ingredient in the beauty and skincare world. Goat milk does a lotta great things for your skin, but most importantly it contains lactic acid, which has proven itself to be a superior skin-softening agent and a natural exfoliant that doesn’t cause irritation or dryness.
Goat milk is rich in both saturated and unsaturated fats, making it ideal for soap production. Saturated fats increase a soap’s lather (bubbles!) while unsaturated fats provide moisturizing and nourishing properties.
From acne to anti-aging products, the types of acids found in goat milk soap are a staple in skincare. These same acids are commonly extracted from milk, fruits, or plants and are added to a crazy amount of skincare products. While cow’s milk remains popular, goat milk is springing into dairy-beauty routines because of the benefits to your skin. So let’s skim over some reasons why you should treat your skin to goat milk soap.
But why goat milk?
- Gentle cleanser
Most commercially made soaps contain harsh stuff that can strip your skin of natural moisture and oils, leaving it feeling dry and tight. They do this on purpose, so you’ll buy their moisturizer!
Goat milk soap boasts high amounts of fats, allowing for gentle removal of dirt and debris without removing the skin’s natural fatty acids. Waaaa laaaaa ~ naturally moisturized skin.
- Rich in nutrients
Goat milk is rich in fatty acids and cholesterol to not only keep your skin soft, but it also wards off irritation. And, to top it off, goat’s milk contains lots of vitamin A which is what everyone uses in skin care because it has anti-aging properties. Naturally!
- Improves dry skin
I could probably combine this benefit with #2 (above) but I want to make it very clear how important moisture is to the skin. Dry skin is unhappy skin and drives people crazy. I mean, you are going to wash your hands a million times a day anyway, why not do something simple like use a naturally moisturizing soap that rehydrates your skin? Like Harvest + Harmony!
- Natural exfoliant
Your skin loves to be exfoliated. It’s so happy to get rid of that top layer of dead skin! Goat milk contains lactic acid, which gently removes the top later of dead skin cells, allowing for the new, refreshed skin to come shining through. Added bonus? Lactic acid is known to be gentle, making it a cool ingredient for those with sensitive skin.
